A vote about whether to recall Kenneth Elstein, George Archible and James Barry from their elected positions as selectman of Belchertown, Massachusetts took place on May 17, 2011.[1]

In the recall election, Elstein and Archible retained their seats, while Barry was recalled.[1] Barry was replaced by Brenda Q. Aldrich.

The effort to recall the three selectman was in response to their votes in February 2011 against keeping Police Chief Francis R. Fox, Jr. Elstein and Archible ultimately changed their votes on the question of keeping Fox, allowing him to stay through 2014, while Barry did not..[2]

George Archible:

  • Votes to retain: 1,312
  • Votes to recall: 1,013 Defeatedd

James Barry:

  • Votes to retain: 1,155
  • Votes to recall: 1,182 Approveda
