Kent Juhnke (b. January 15, 1945) is a former Republican member of the South Dakota State Senate. He was appointed in 2011 to replace Cooper Garnos (R) and represented the 21st district until 2013.[1]
Juhnke served on the Lyman Board of Education from 1988 to 1994. He also served in the South Dakota State House from 1999 to 2005. He again joined the South Dakota House in 2007 and served in that position until his appointment to the Senate. Juhnke was replaced by David Scott.
Juhnke was a Vocational Agriculture Teacher at Riggs High School from 1978 to 1979. He then worked as a Research Mill Operator for Horton Research Center and Feedlot from 1983 to 1986. He also worked on the family farm from 1979 to 1983 and from 1986 to the present.
Juhnke earned his BS from South Dakota State University in 1978. Juhnke and his wife, Sandy, have three children.

Juhnke ran for re-election in the 2012 election for South Dakota State Senate District 26. Juhnke ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 5 and was defeated by Larry J. Lucas (D) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]

Juhnke ran for re-election to one of two seats in District 21 of the South Dakota House of Representatives. Juhnke and James Schaefer advanced past the June 8 Republican primary after garnering more votes than Lee Qualm.[3] Juhnke and Schaefer defeated David Reis (D) and Norm Cihak (D) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[4]
