Kevin McCarthy (b. January 26, 1965) is a Republican member of the U.S. House representing California's 22nd congressional district. McCarthy was first elected to the House in 2006.

McCarthy is running for re-election in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing California's 23rd District as a Republican. He was displaced from his current district, the 22nd by redistricting.[1] The open primary election will be held on June 5, 2012.

Based on an analysis of bill sponsorship by GovTrack, McCarthy is a "rank-and-file Republican".[2]

Biography

McCarthy was born in Bakersfield, California. He earned a B.S. and an M.B.A. from California State University, Bakersfield, in 1989 and 1994, respectively.[3]
