Kim Ward has been a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate since being first elected in November of 2008 and re-elected in 2012 with her term expiring in 2016. Ward also serves as a County Commissioner for Westmoreland County a role she has served since 2007 and was a member of the Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors from 2001 to 2007. Ward was also was a former Southwest Pennsylvania Coordinator for former Governor Mark Schweiker in 2002 and served as the Southwest Pennsylvania Field Director for Bush-Cheney 2004. Ward also worked as an independent political consultant from 2005 to 2006.

Ward attended college at Allegheny County Community College, Pittsburgh, and Tennessee State.
