The Labor & Commerce Committee is a standing committee of the Alaska House of Representatives.

Per the Uniform Rules, committees of the Alaska House of Representatives are assigned by the Committee on Committees. The Committee on Committees is appointed by the Speaker of the House and has five members including the Speaker. Committees are assigned after each election.[1] What constitutes a quorum for committees is not defined. The Speaker is not recognized as an "ex officio" member of any committee.

Function

Per Uniform Rule 20-a, the Labor & Commerce Committee is to consider "the programs and activities of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development relating to the labor-management relations, industrial safety, unemployment compensation, and workers' compensation and the programs and activities of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development that do not primarily relate to local government or to government services or functions in the unorganized borough."[2]
