Lane County Amendment Section Repeal Measures, 2 (November 2012)
The first measure amended the Lane County Charter to repeal Section 8, which concerns the Board's right to arrange for functions of the county to be performed with cooperation of other units of local government. But this ability of the Board is established and determined by State Law specifically in ORS 190.003-190.265. This makes Section 8 unnecessary and duplicative of state law. For this reason the Charter Review Committee recommended the repeal of section 8.
The second measure amended the Lane County Charter to repeal section 31-32 and change section 11. Section 31-32 provides for the continuation of the terms of Commissioners and Elective or Administrative offices, establish election dates for commissioners and assign responsibilities to certain county offices. The Charter Review Committee suggested the repeal of these sections and the addition of specific language to section 11 to define the election dates for commissioners.
