Largest school districts in the United States by enrollment

As of 2014, there are roughly 13,600 public school districts in the United States.[1] These districts collectively include about 55.2 million students. A total of 25,989,275 students, or 47.1 percent of all students, reside in the top 1,000 school districts in the nation.

Every state except Maine and Vermont has at least one school district that is represented in the top 1,000 districts.
