Last Frontier Healthcare District parcel tax, Measure R (August 2010)
From Ballotpedia
A Last Frontier Healthcare District parcel tax, Measure R ballot proposition was on the August 31, 2010 ballot in Modoc County, where it was approved.[1]
Measure R imposes a $195 per parcel per year tax on parcels within the newly-created Last Frontier Healthcare District.[2]
Measure R is expected to generate $3 million each year to support the operations of the Modoc Medical Center. The hospital, which prior to the passage of Measure Q was owned and operated by Modoc County, had been operating at a millions-a-year deficit.[3]
The newly-created hospital district is 400 miles northeast of San Francisco.
Residents of the county feared that if Measures Q and R lost, the hospital would have to close.[4]
