A Last Frontier Healthcare District parcel tax, Measure R
ballot proposition was on the August 31, 2010 ballot
in Modoc County
, where it was approved.
Measure R imposed a $195 per parcel per year tax on parcels within the newly-created Last Frontier Healthcare District.
Measure R was expected to generate $3 million each year to support the operations of the Modoc Medical Center. The hospital, which prior to the passage of Measure Q was owned and operated by Modoc County, had been operating at a millions-a-year deficit.
The newly-created hospital district was 400 miles northeast of San Francisco.
