Toomer ran in the 2011 election for Mississippi House of Representatives District 121, but lost to incumbent Diane Peranich in the primary on August 2, 2011. Republican candidate Carolyn Crawford defeated Jeff Wallace in the Republican primary. The general election took place on November 8, 2011.[1]
