Born in Alliance, Nebraska, Sen. Louden is a cattle rancher and National Weather Service observer living in Ellsworth.
Prior to his election to the Nebraska Legislature, Sen. Louden served on the District 3 Board of Directors (nine years), Panhandle Rural Electric Membership Association; legislative committee, Nebraska Rural Electric Association (six years); Sheridan County School Reorganization Board; secretary, District 119 School Board (30 years); president, Area 11 Nebraska Stockgrowers Association (1986).  Outside of politics, Sen. Louden is a member of the Elks Club, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Nebraska Cattlemen's Assocation in his hometown of Ellsworth.
Louden received his diploma from Saint Agnes Academy and attended Nebraska State Trade School.
