Lee County Slot Machine Question (November 2012)
A Lee County Slot Machine Question will be on the November 6, 2012 ballot in Lee County, where it was approved.
This measure sought to place slot machines at the Naples-Fort Myers Greyhound Track in Bontia. The owner of the track noted that if slots are approved then more jobs would be create. Even if the measure does gain approval, it would still need a legislative law to allow slots in the county officially.[1] The family who owns the park stated that this would just be the first part in a larger plan to expand the entire property to have a convention center, restaurants and other entertainment venues for residents. The goal would to provide other recreational activities, not just gambling.[2]
