The Legislative Audit Committee is a joint standing committee of the Colorado General Assembly.

Per Section 2-3-101 of the Colorado Revised Statutes the joint Legislative Audit Committee will consist of eight appointed members, four from the House and four from Senate, with two from each house coming from each of the two major parties. These members will be appointed by their leadership, either the State Speaker of the House or the President of the Senate and approved by their respective house. Appointments must be made within the first sixty days of the legislative session held in odd-numbered years. Members remain a part of the Legislative Audit Committee until another person is appointed in their stead, or until they leave office, whichever comes first. The committee selects their own chairman and vice-chairman.[1]

The Committee is responsible for reviewing and releasing audit reports and recommending special studies. The LAC also recommends an appointment for State Auditor to the leadership of the General Assembly every five years.[2][3]
