Leon County School Sales Tax Renewal (November 2012)
This measure sought to renew the current school sales tax which is set at a rate of .5% for a further fifteen years in order to continue to pay for school upgrades, maintenance costs and other school district needs. The original tax was first approved in 2002 by voters, this measure would just renew the previously approved tax.[1]

Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
| Shall a one-half cent discretionary sales surtax be levied in Leon County for a period of 15 years, beginning January 1, 2013, to finance education facilities, including construction, reconstruction, retrofitting, renovation, remodeling, land acquisition and improvement and the purchase of technology equipment, hardware and software for the Leon County School District, which levy will extend the existing one-half cent discretionary sales surtax that expires December 31, 2012. |
