Candidates for lieutenant governor must be
- at least 25 years old
- a registered elector
- a resident of Nevada for at least two years
While in office, the lieutenant governor may not hold any federal level office.

Nevada elects lieutenant governors in the midterm elections, that is, even years that are not Presidential election years. For Nevada, 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 are all lieutenant gubernatorial election years. Legally, the lieutenant gubernatorial inauguration is always set for the first Monday in the January following an election. Thus, January 3, 2011 and January 5, 2015 are inaugural days.
Vacancies

Anytime the Lieutenant Governor is absent, unable to serve, or vacates the offices, the President Pro Tem of the Senate serves as Acting Lieutenant Goverenor until the vacancy is filled or the disability is removed.
Duties
The Lieutenant Governor serves as the President of the Senate when the Legislature is in session, but only casts a tie-breaking vote. The Lieutenant Governor also serves as acting governor when the Governor is out of state or otherwise unable to serve. The Lieutenant Governor also serves as the Chair of the Nevada Commission on Tourism and the Nevada Commission on Economic Development. [1]
