List of Washington State veto referendums
This page is a list of Washington referendum measures, also known commonly as veto referenda.
Background
In 1912, citizens in Washington approved the right to initiative and referendum by a 71 to 29 percent split.
The first referendum, regarding a law that would create a Teachers’ Retirement Fund, went to the ballot on the November 3, 1914 ballot, and was defeated alongside Washington's second referendum.[1]
Since that beginning, through June of 2012 on the ballot, 74 referendum measures have been proposed. However, only 37 have been sent to the ballots.[1][2]
