BOISE, Idaho: While one initiative effort in the state is hoping to cut the state sales tax from 6 to 5 percent, another effort would let voters decide whether to allow for local communities to implement a local sales tax in addition to the state sales tax.[1]

According to reports, the measure's supporters are currently gathering signatures to place it on the 2012 ballot. Supporters of the measure have until the May 1, 2012 petition drive deadline to turn in the required amount of valid signatures, 47,432, in order to be placed on the ballot.
