Campaign website
Lou Ann Zelenik was a 2012 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 6th Congressional District of Tennessee.

Zelenik attended Vanderbilt University. She is a businesswoman.

Zelenik has made radical Islam a centerpiece of her campaign to unseat Black, accusing the incumbent of being too soft on the issue. On her campaign site, Zelenik pledges to "work to stop the Islamization of our society, and do everything possible to prevent Sharia Law from circumventing our laws and our Constitution."[1]

Fundraising controversy

In July 2012, it was reported that the Super PAC Citizens 4 Ethics in Government was established earlier in the month to work against the re-election of Rep. Diane Black. The Super PAC's sole contributor, however - Andy Miller - was also a major fundraiser and backer of Zelenik, who was challenging Black in the primary. The connection raised questions over campaign finance laws and the legality of campaigns coordinating with Super PACs. Black's campaign argued that the relationship violated federal law. Zelenik, however, denied any connection.[3]

In 2010, Zelenik joined the GOP field to replace retiring Democratic incumbent Rep. Bart Gordon. She lost in the primary, however, coming in second place to Diane Black.
