Louisiana's 2nd congressional district encompasses Orleans, St. Charles, St. John, St. James, Ascension, and Iberville parishes in southern Louisiana. [1]
The district previously included the West Bank portion of Jefferson Parish and South Kenner.
The current representative of the 2nd congressional district is Cedric Richmond (D).

The 2nd congressional district of Louisiana held an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 6, 2012. Incumbent Cedric Richmond won re-election in the district.[2]

On November 2, 2010, Cedric Richmond won election to the United States House of Representatives. He defeated Anh "Joseph" Cao (R) Anthony Marquize (I), and Jack Radosta (I) in the general election.[3]
