Louisiana Amendment One was on the October 20, 2007 statewide ballot in Louisiana as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment to the Louisiana Constitution.

The purpose of the amendment was to constitutionally safeguard existing and future statutory supplemental pay levels for full-time local law enforcement officers and firefighters.

Election results

Amendment One passed with 59 percent voting for the measure and 41 percent voting against it.[1]

Taxpayer's perspective

Constitutional Amendment 1 would wall off state salary supplements for law enforcement officers and firefighters from any future reductions, effectively limiting budget policy options and making tax increases for other programs likelier.
