The Louisiana Extraordinary Legislative Sessions Act, or Louisiana Proposed Amendment 2, passed the state legislature as Senate Bill 296. This measure is a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment.

Specific Provisions

The measure enacted the following provisions:

  • Amend Article III, Section 2(B) of the Louisiana Constitution to require that when a proclamation is issued to call the state legislature into an extraordinary session, the proclamation must be issued at least seven calendar days before the extraordinary (special) session convenes.[1]
