Louisiana Amendment 6 (General) provides that persons who are 70 years of age or older shall be exempt from jury service and may decline to serve as jurors, but may elect to serve if they meet the other qualifications. It was on the
November 7, 1999 election ballot in
Louisiana where it passed, with 64% of voters in favor.

The language that appeared on the ballot:
To provide that persons who are seventy years of age or older shall be exempt from jury service and may decline to serve as jurors, but may elect to serve as jurors if they meet the other qualifications for service as a juror. [Amends Article V, Section 33(B)]
