Three Home Rule Questions were on the March 20, 2012 ballot in the villages of Lynwood and Merrionette as well as the city of Prospect Heights which are in Cook County.

All three measures were defeated[1]

These three measures sought to allow the villages and city to adopt home rule charters and be home rule communities.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Lynwood Question: Shall the Village of Lynwood become a home rule community?

Merrionette Question: Shall the Village of Merrionette Park, Cook County, Illinois, become a Home Rule Unit?

Prospect Heights Question: Shall the City of Prospect Heights become a home rule unit of government?[3]
