"MATForce is a community-wide grass-roots effort working to eliminate substance abuse in Yavapai County."[1] This local organization in Arizona is focused on supporting prevention programs for youth and families, to influence public opinion and policy, to increase the ability to intervene and treat drug abusers, and addressing the issue of underage drinking.[2]


  • MATForce overall goal is to eliminate drug abuse in Yavapai County. Their missions statement reads, "With determination and integrity, we, citizens of Yavapai County,commit to working in partnership to build healthier communities by striving to eliminate substance abuse and its effects."[3]

Recent Accomplishments

  • MATForce has seemed to have made a substantial effect on their community. Felony crimes in the area have dropped 30 percent from 2007 to 2009. In 2009 MATForce received the “Got Outcomes Coalitions of Excellence Award” from Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA). In MATForce's Progress Report for April, 2009 to March, 2010 the organization showed it's wide array of accomplishments including 300 volunteers working over 1500 hours and various mini-grants given to the community.[4]

MATForce Governance

  • This organization uses a coalition which consists of an Executive Committee, the Prescott Area Steering Committee, the Verde Area Steering Committee, as well as other work organizations and groups.[5]
