A Madison County property tax extension limitation vote, also known as PTELL (Property Tax Extension Limitation Law), may take place in Madison County in Illinois on November 10, 2010 if the group, Property Tax Accountability & Relief (PTAR), is successful in placing the ballot measure on the county-wide ballot.

The proposed ballot measure would limit property tax increases to 5 percent or inflation, whichever is greater. Anything greater would need voter approval before being implemented.

The group, Property Tax Accountability & Relief (PTAR), is spearheading the petition in Madison County.

In 1999, the PTELL appeared on the ballot but the measure failed by approximately 1,000 votes.[1]

In 2009, St. Claire County residents also announced that they too are circulating a petition to place the ballot measure on the county-wide ballot.
