The Commissioner is appointed by the Governor of Maine and subject to review by the Legislature's Labor, Commerce, Research and Economic Development Committee and confirmation by the Legislature.[2][3]
Duties
The commissioner of labor is responsible for overseeing the Maine Department of Labor, which enforces labor regulations, ensures safe working conditions, maintains accountable employment and training programs, and manages unemployment benefits programs in Maine.[2]
