Maine Direct Primary Law (1911)

The Maine Direct Primary Law was on the Maine ballot on September 11, 1911. It was the first measure to ever be voted on statewide in Maine. It was also called "An Act to Provide for Nomination of Candidates of Political Parties by Primary Elections."
The purpose of the measure was to allow the nomination of state and county officers by primaries (direct primary law). It passed by a lopsided margin.
