The Maine Excise Tax Trust Fund Amendment was on the 1983 ballot in Maine, where it was approved. It was the 149th constitutional amendment added to the Maine Constitution.
The amendment was legislatively-referred to the ballot by the Maine Legislature.
The measure changed the constitution so that in the future, expanding any principal amount of the Mining Excise Tax Trust Fund would require a two-thirds vote of the Maine State Legislature.
