The Maine Higher Education Loan Guarantees Amendment was on the 1982 ballot in Maine, where it was approved. It was the 148th constitutional amendment added to the Maine Constitution.

The amendment was legislatively-referred to the ballot by the Maine Legislature.

The measure authorized the credit of the state to be loaned to secure funds for loans to parents of Maine students attending institutions of higher education.
