The Maine Literacy Test Amendment was on the 1979 ballot in Maine as a proposed constitutional amendment to the Maine Constitution. It was defeated.

The amendment was placed on the ballot by the Maine State Legislature.

The purpose of the amendment was to "remove the literacy requirement for eligibility to vote" from the state's constitution.
