The Maine Removal of Gender Biased Constitutional Language Referendum, also known as Question 7, was on the November 8, 1988 ballot in Maine as a legislatively-referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure removed gender-biased language from the constitution to make it gender neutral. This amended Sections 1, 3, 4, 6, 6-A , 19 and 20 of Article I; Section 1 of Article II; Sections 4 and 5 of Article IV, Part First; Sections 1-A, 2, 10, 11, 17, 19 and 20 of Article IV, Part Third; Sections 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 of Article V, Part First; Sections 2, 3 and 4 of Article V, Part Second; Sections 2 and 3 of Article V, Part Third; Section 4 of Article VI and Sections 1, 3, 5 and 10 of Article IX of the Maine Constitution. It was the 158th constitutional amendment added to the Maine Constitution.[1][2][3]
