AUGUSTA, Maine: This June Mainers will have to decide whether to approve or defeat a proposed Maine Tax Code People's Veto. The proposed measure asks voters if they are in favor of rejecting "the new law that lowers Maine's income tax and replaces that revenue by making changes to the sales tax?" Despite months of litigation, the measure has been approved for the June 2010 ballot. Sponsors of the referendum include Republican Party Chairman Charles Webster, Senate Minority Leader Kevin Raye and House Minority Leader Joshua Tardy.[1]
