Mancelona Fire District Levy Renewal (August 2010)

A Mancelona Fire District Levy Renewal measure was on the August 3, 2010 ballot in the Mancelona fire district which is in Antrim County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 171 (63.95%) Approveda
  • NO 80 (36.05%)[1]

This measure sought to increase the levy that is to be renewed by .5 mills for a further three years in order to help pay for equipment needed by the fire district.[2]


The question on the ballot:

Mancelona Fire District Equipment Being a renewal, shall the tax limitation on general ad valorem taxes within the Mancelona Township imposed under Article IX, section 6, of the Michigan Constitution be increased for said Township by .5 mils (.50 per $1000.00 of taxable value) for a period of three (3) years (2010 through 2012, inclusive) for the purpose of providing funds for Mancelona Fire District equipment; and shall the Township levy such increase in millage for said purpose during such period; thereby raising in the first year an estimated $47,000.00?[3]
