Marc Alessi is a former Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 1 from September 2005 -- after winning a special election -- until 2010. Alessi's political experience includes downstate director of intergovernmental affairs for the Office of the New York State Comptroller.

Biography

Alessi earned his B.A. from State University of New York at Albany and his J.D. from Touro Law School. His professional experience includes working as an attorney, as an intern in the New York State Assembly and as a small business owner.[1]

Alessi ran unopposed in the September 14 Democratic primary. Alessi was defeated by challenger Daniel Losquadro (R) in the general election on November 2.[2] Alessi conceded after the count of absentee ballots put him 906 votes behind.[3] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, Alessi was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State and Working Families Party.

On November 4, 2008, Marc Alessi won re-election to the New York State Assembly, District 1, defeating opponent James M. Staudenraus (R).
