This measure sought to increase the current community center levy by a rate of $.50 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a further four years in order to continue to pay for maintenance and operational costs of the Hudson memorial Building in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:
| Shall the limitation of the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in the Township of Marcellus, Cass County, Michigan, be increased (such being a renewal of the ½ mill approved at the election of August 5, 2008, set to expire with the 2012 tax levy) by one-half (1/2) mill on each dollar (50 cents on each $1000.00) of the assessed taxable valuation, as equalized, for a period of four (4) years, 2013 to 2016, inclusive? The purpose of this millage is to provide funds for the maintenance and operation of the Hudson Memorial Building, a Community Center. This levy will raise in the first calendar year an estimated $33,000.00. |
