Silva was a candidate for District 18 of the New Jersey General Assembly. She was defeated in the November 8 general election. Silva and Joseph Sinagra ran unopposed in the Republican Primary on June 7. Patrick Diegnan, Jr. and Peter Barnes, III ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.Sinagra and Silva will face incumbents Peter Barnes, III (D) and Patrick Diegnan, Jr. (D) in the November 8 general election.
District 18 ranks ninth in fundraising
As of October 25, candidates for District 18 have raised $1,148,826--according to the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission. This makes District 18 number nine in fundraising for the 2011 election season. Candidates for the district have spent $809,782 of their campaign funds.
Silva was endorsed by East Brunswick Mayor David Stahl (D). Stahl stated, "I think some career politicians in Washington and Trenton just don't get it. This election year, however, I believe there is a candidate for the Assembly who actually gets it."
