Pena-Faustino was one of three candidates running for election from the Republican party. Pena-Faustino, Henry Kahwaty and Patricia Fenati advanced beyond the primary because there were three open seats in the district. In the general election, they faced the winners of the Democratic primary between Ali Vanessa, Datt Neeta, Anne Kaiser (incumbent), Jodi Finkelstein, Eric Luedtke, Robert Newsome Gerald Roper and Craig Zucker.

Pena-Faustino lost in the general election on November 2, 2010, coming in fifth.[1]
