Agana lost to Democrat Tim Ryan in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Ohio's 13th District. Agana was the only Republican in the March 6, 2012 primary looking to unseat incumbent Rep. Tim Ryan (D).[2]

The Washington Post listed the House of Representatives elections in Ohio in 2012 as one of the 10 states that could have determined whether Democrats retake the House or Republicans would hold its majority in 2013.[3] Ohio tied with Pennsylvania for 9th on the list.[3]
