Buesgens is Academic Director of the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists. He previously worked as Administrator at Black Hawk Middle School from 1991-2005, and a math teacher at Independent School District 719, and the Inter-American Academy in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
Buesgens is a member of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jordan Commercial Club, and Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church. He is married and has 4 children.[1]

Buesgens won re-election to the District 35B Seat in 2010. He defeated Tom Rees in the August 10 Democratic primary. Buesgens defeated Jannaya LaFrance (DFL) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[2]
