Born July 1, 1962 in Holdrege, Nebraska, Sen. Christensen is a commodities trader and part time rancher from Imperial, Nebraska.[1] Senator Christensen has economics and agricultural degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is also active in Rotary International.[2]
Christensen earned his Bachelors degree in agricultural economics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1984.
Christensen began his professional experience in 1997 both managing his personal farm and working as secretary for R&A Christensen Farms Incoporated. He stopped managing his personal farm in 2000 but presently remains working as a secretary. In 2000, he worked as a broker for AgWest Commodities, a limited liability company until 2003. In that year, he became president of AgWest Country Commodities Incoporated. He currently serves as president and as a commodity broker for AgWest in addition to being a landowner.
Christensen joined the Nebraska State Legislature as senator in 2007.
Christensen is currently involved with a number of organizations, including the Churches, Southwest Northeast Corn Growers, Crossroads Wesleyan, Izzak Walton League, National Corn Growers, National Rifle Association, Nebraska Corn Growers, Nebraskans First Pheasants Forever Quails Forever, Rotary, Spirit of Rock, Water Claim, Wesleyan Church in Imperial, and the Wild Turkey Federation.

Christensen came in first in the May 11, 2010 primary, besting Thomas Baker by a margin of 4,615-2,818. Christensen defeated Baker in the November 2, 2010 general election.[3]
