The signature-filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. Mark Ellebracht was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Nick King was unopposed in the Republican primary.[1][2]

Ellebracht ran in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 17. Ellebracht ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and was defeated by District 34 Myron Neth (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4]
