Ericks has been the Director of Administrative Services for the City of Bothell since 2002. He also currently works as Property Crimes Lieutenant, Major Crimes Commander, and Crisis Negotiator for hostage negotiations. Ericks was a police officer/detective for the Bellevue Police Department from 1973 to 1990. He then worked as Chief of Police for the Bothell Police Department from 1990 to 2002.
Ericks attended the following schools: the University of Virginia, the University of Southern California, Seattle University, and Everett Junior College. He then graduated from Northwest Command College and the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy.
While a member of the Washington House of Representatives, Ericks served on the following committees:
