Fotsch's website highlights the following campaign themes:
- Excerpt:"Mark Fotsch wants state and local government to answer to citizens, not the other way around. Mark feels that you also deserve property taxes that are low enough to help you protect and keep your home, while serving the community in a fiscally responsible manner."
- Excerpt:"Parents deserve to choose the options they know are best for their children; Mark will work toward opening up curriculum options and parental involvement, while enabling more oversight into public schools. Mark will also work to have the state repay our debt to public schools, instead of spending money on stadium cost overruns."
- Excerpt:"Small and medium-sized businesses and entrepreneurs simply cannot afford expensive, government-mandated health insurance policies. Mark Fotsch knows that you should decide your own health insurance needs, rather than being forced into a federal or state "Cadillac plan" under the threat of tax penalties and punishment from the I.R.S."
Fotsch ran in the 2012 election for Minnesota House of Representatives District 66A. He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on August 14 and was defeated by incumbent Alice Hausman (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.
