Gottlieb resigned from the Assembly on January 3, 2011, after being named by Governor Scott Walker as the state's Transportation Secretary on December 30, 2010[1] [2].
Gottlieb has worked as Director of Public Works/Village Engineer for the Village of Grafton from 1992-2002, Mayor of Port Washington from 1997-2003, and Alderman for Port Washington from 1991-1997.
He is a member of Post 82 - American Legion, American Society of Civil Engineers, Cedarburg Chamber of Commerce, Grafton Chamber of Commerce, Ozaukee County Republican Party, and Port Washington Chamber of Commerce.[3]
