Homer is the co-owner of Sonic Drive-In Restaurant Franchises and has previously worked as a meat buyer for Safeway.
He is on the Board of Directors of a number of organizations, including Denver Pyle Children's Charities, Liberty National Bank in Paris, Red River Valley Boys and Girls Club, and the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute.[1]

Homer ran for re-election in 2010. He had no opposition in the March 2nd primary. Erwin Cain ran for the seat on the Republican ticket, and J. Douglas Froneberger ran for the seat as a Libertarian.
