Mark Honadel is a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly in the 21st Assembly District. Honadel is up for re-election this year. The 21st Assembly District Consists of South Milwaukee, Oak Creek, and two wards from Milwaukee's Bay View Neighborhood.

Early Life and Background

Honadel is a native of the Milwaukee region and he was born and raised in the Milwaukee region.

Honadel has been well connected with politics as his father was the former mayor of Oak Creek. Honadel is a former independent businessman as the principal of Honadel's, Inc., a lawn and garden center in South Milwaukee, former professional metal fabricator, welding instructor at Milwaukee Area Technical College, and industrial manager.

Mark Honadel is a graduate of Oak Creek High School and attended Marquette University and Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Political Background

Honadel was first elected to the Assembly in a special election in 2003. Honadel was the first Republican in over eighty years to win the Milwaukee Bay View District.

On The Issues

Economic Policy

Rep. Honadel being a small business owner has been a big advocate towards pro-growth policies that allow more job creation and reducing business taxes and making the business climate better for more businesses to move to Wisconsin.

Rep. Honadel has been so far been endorsed by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association as they have touted his experience working with small businesses[2].

Health Care

Mark Honadel voted against the Healthy Wisconsin Plan in 2007 by voting for the Assembly version of the Wisconsin State Budget that had provisions for market driven health care reforms. Honadel has been an active supporter of expansion of health savings accounts and also for health care price transparency and quality control ratings. Honadel has been very vocal against universal health care citing his experiences as a small business owner as he has claimed that the 10.5% universal health care tax assessed on businesses would put small businesses out of business if universal health care were law in Wisconsin[3].

Illegal Immigration

Mark Honadel was a major author during the 2007 Wisconsin State Republican Convention in which would not tolerate illegal immigration. Honadel has opposed giving drivers licenses, and other government handouts to illegal immigrants.

Crime

Honadel is for eliminate early release for sex offenders and for creating "Project KidSafe" to require lifetime, round-the-clock Monitoring of Sex Offenders. Honadel was the main author of Jessica's Law in Wisconsin that would require convicted child sex offenders in Wisconsin to face a minimum 25 years in prison which is currently in the law books.
