This measure seeks to renew the current property tax rate which is set at a rate of .69 mills for eight years in order to pay for the general operational costs of the library district.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

Shall the Marshall District Library, County of Calhoun, Michigan, renew the previously voted increase in the tax limitation that expires in 2011 in an amount not to exceed .693 mill ($.693 on each $1,000 dollars of taxable value) against all taxable real and tangible personal property within the Marshall District Library District for a period of eight (8) years, 2012 to 2019, inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for all District Library purposes authorized by law; and shall the District Library levy such renewal in millage for said purpose; the estimate of the revenue the District Library will collect if the millage is approved and levied by the Library in the 2012 calendar year is approximately $352,000? A portion of the revenue collected within the areas of the City of Marshall included in the City of Marshall Development Authority (DDA) and Local Development Finance Authority (LDFA) districts may be subject to capture by the DDA and LDFA.[3]
