Mascher has been a Teacher in Iowa City Community Schools since 1976. She served as Chair of the Johnson County Democratic Party from 1986-1988.
She is a member of the Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association, Democratic Activist Woman's Network, Iowa State Sesquicentennial Commission, and the National Council of State Legislators.[1]
