Mary Sue McClurkin is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 43rd district, Jefferson and Shelby counties. She was first elected in 1998. She is Alabama state chairman for ALEC (American Legislative Exchange Council).[1]

McClurkin currently owns McClurkin Enterprises, and previously owned Alabama Butane Company Incorporated (1985-2001). She worked as an account executive with Riverchase Business Brokers (1983-1985) and Executive Director of the Pelham Chamber of Commerce (1981-1983).

She is a member of the Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Columbia Rotary Club, Young Men's Christian Association Board of Directors, Galleria Woods Nursing Home, Complete Care Board, Business Council of Alabama trustee, Pediatric Rehabilitation Board trustee, Baptist Health System of Alabama trustee, and President of the Alabama Propane Gas Association.[2]

McClurkin won re-election to the 43rd District Seat in 2010. She defeated Brittany Tate in the primary. She then defeated Virginia Sweet in the November 2 general election.[3][4]
