Maryland poll shows slight approval for same sex marriage in Maryland

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland: In a poll taken by the Washington Post of over 1,030 residents, results showed a slight margin of support for same sex marriage in the state of Maryland. The poll was taken during May 3-6, 2010. According to the results, the poll showed that 46 percent of residents supported same sex marriage, 44 percent opposed it, and 10 percent were undecided. However, among registered voters, 48 percent are in favor and 43 are opposed.
The issue has been debated around most of the country this year, with some states proposing or sending the issue for voter approval. In 2009, Maine approved a people's veto that repealed a newly passed law that would have authorized same-sex marriage in Maine.[1]
