Mass Senate: Does your legislator show up for work?
By: George Sousouris
BOSTON, Massachusetts: Beacon Hill Roll Call released voting reports this week, tracking Senators' attendance from the beginning of 2012 through August 24. There have been a total of 179 votes thus far in 2012, and the roll call attendance record is calculated as a percentage of that number.
Sen. Richard T. Moore (D) was one of only 13 members to have perfect attendance. He was quick to admit that showing up is not everything, saying, "Although the job of a legislator involves much more than voting, roll call votes are among the most public acts that we do. Consequently, the public often judges us on the percentage of votes we make."
